Assistance with Fees
Are you finding it difficult to find the fees for your course?
Do you receive one of the following means tested benefits?
- Job Seekers Allowance
- Income Support
- Council Tax Benefit
- Housing Benefit
- Pensions Credits (Guaranteed Credits)
- Working Tax Credits (where household income is less than £15,276)
- an unwaged dependant of anyone receiving one of the above benefits
- ESA - Employment and Support Allowance
You may be entitled to a fee reduction. The reduced fee in the course listing applies to students or their unwaged dependents that pay their own fees, who do not receive sponsorship from their employer or managing agent, and who are in receipt of one of the benefits on the list above.
These students only pay the resources and exam fees but do not pay for tuition. If you wish to obtain a fee reduction you must, at the time of enrolment, declare and provide evidence (on Application for Reduction in College Fees form C025) that you are in receipt of any of the above. You must have the relevant stamp from the benefits agency, or an official letter dated within the previous six months from the date of enrolment.
Notes on fee reductions
- for Working Tax Credit an award notice (form TC602) will be required as exceptions may apply
- an unwaged dependent is the spouse or partner as confirmed by the relevant benefit office or a child aged 16 - 18 years
- if you cease to receive benefits you must inform the Enrolments Office immediately. Appropriate fees will then be charged. Any cases of hardship should be referred in writing to the Director of Client Services
- students who become in receipt of benefits after enrolment will not be entitled to a refund or a reduction in fees
- tuition on Adult Literacy and Adult Numeracy courses is free to all students following an assessment. You will need to pay a small registration/exam fee
- reduced fees are only applicable on courses indicated in the course listings
- Child Tax Credit does not qualify students for fee reduction
