Using your home PC

This is a series of one day courses to help you get the best from your PC. From the setting up of home networks and maintaining your PC, to using Internet and Email, buying and selling on eBay or using Facebook, there are plenty of courses from which to choose.

Basic Networks at Home - Saturday

You will learn how your computer connects to the Internet and look at how your home-hub/router works. To ensure you keep on-line we will look at basic troubleshooting techniques and introduce you to the basics of keeping secure on-line. You will also be shown how to set up a web browser and set it up and keep up to date with web software.

Buying and Selling on eBay - Saturday

If you are not sure how to get on eBay to bid or buy, this is the course that will show you what to do. You will be shown how to setup an eBay and PayPal account. You will learn how to sell more effectively on eBay, and how to bid and get the bargain you want. You will learn tips for taking photos how to upload and attract buyers. We will also cover eBay etiquette, and buying from abroad and selling abroad.

Card Creation - Saturday

Using desktop publisher we will create an accession of your choice greetings card. You will download images from your camera, the internet and clipart and insert them into your chosen template for a personal effect.

Maintenance for Home PCs - Saturday

If you want to check that you're getting the best out of your PC, or it runs slow all the time, then this course will show you what to check and how to improve the performance. You will also learn how to install and un-install software, understand how to backup your files, and how to recover files. General troubleshooting of common problems will also be covered.

Security Basics at Home for Your PC - Saturday

You will learn about how to secure your systems with firewalls and anti-virus software. You will be shown how to install business grade free anti-virus software, how to keep it up to date. We will look at Windows security and what to do when you hit issues while web browsing. You will also learn about how to protect your PC's from other harmful software.
