Highways Open Tech
How does Highways Open Tech work?
Highways Open Tech uses distance learning packages in a similar way to the Open University and no attendance at College is necessary. Students may enrol at anytime and study at their own speed at home or work. Students can take up to two academic years to complete a full course and up to one academic year for a short course. As these courses are by distance learning, the College is pleased to accept students outside the EU and overseas. There is however an additional charge for postage.
Earthworks for Highways
This short course will provide you with a broad knowledge of earthworks theory and practice for highway construction.Estimating and Costing CESMM Diploma
The objective of this course is to give you a practical working knowledge of estimating and costing for use in the fields of civil engineering design, construction and maintenance. This programme deals with the Civil Engineering Standard Method of Measurements (CESMM) and is used on civil engineering construction contracts by practising engineers and surveyors.Estimating and Costing MCDHW Diploma
The course objective is to provide a practical working knowledge of estimating and costing for those working in the fields of civil engineering design, construction and maintenance. This programme deals with the Method of Measure for Highway Works (MMHW), used within highway authorities and government funded schemes.Ground Investigation
The objective of this course is to introduce you to the aims and methods of ground investigation and develop your understanding of the properties of engineering soils.Highway Design Diploma
You will need to have background knowledge of highways and mathematics. You will be given guidance and practice in the principles of good highway design. Emphasis is placed on efficiency and safety of design within the national recommendations. The combined effects of physical construction with traffic management are explored.
