Aim of the course
The course objective is to provide a practical, working knowledge of estimating and costing for those working in the fields of civil engineering design, construction and maintenance. The relevant theoretical principles and how they are applied to highway design, construction and maintenance are explained clearly.
There are two courses available as there are two recognised methods of estimating and costing.
One course deals with the Method of Measurement for Highway Works (MMHW). This is the method used within highway authorities and government funded schemes. The other course deals with the Civil Engineering Standard Method of Measurement (CESMM) and is used on civil engineering construction contracts by practising engineers and surveyors.
