Aim of the Course
To enable you to improve your basic skills in these key areas: literacy, numeracy and IT. The course also helps you to develop your ability to study effectively and to look at further opportunities for progression.
Who is the Course for?
Anyone who left education with few or no formal qualifications.
Awarding Body
National Open College Network .
Course Content
Units leading to the Level 2 qualification. The core subjects are English, Maths, IT and Study Skills. You will also look at career planning and personal development.
Assessment
The course is assessed through written and oral assignments. To pass the course and achieve your Level 2 you need to gain a certain number of credits. Each unit you do has a number of credits attached to it and as you progress through the course and complete work to the required level, you will gain the credits.
Equipment Required
Basic stationery.
After the Course
You can progress to other Level 3 courses including Access to Higher Education (depending on the standard of work in your portfolio and a suitable reference). Access also requires you to pass a test.
