First Aid Appointed persons

This course is HSE approved and leads to a First Aid Appointed Certificate, which is valid for 3 years.

WHO IS THE COURSE AIMED AT?

This course is ideal for smaller workplaces that present fewer Health and Safety risks and where a nominated person is required to take charge of First Aid in the event of an accident or illness. In larger organisations where there is a qualified First Aider, an appointed person with First Aid training could offer additional support.

• To gain a First Aid Appointed Certificate which is valid for 3 years

• To give your employees peace of mind with simple First Aid knowledge

COURSE OVERVIEW

• What to do in an emergency

• Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation

• First Aid for the unconscious casualty

• First Aid for the wounded or bleeding

• Employers' risk assessment of first aid needs

• Personal safety, assessing the incident

• Priorities: DRAB check and sending for help

• Unconscious casualty

• Resuscitation: adults

• Choking

• Dealing with blood loss and shock

• Burns and scalds

• Fractures

• Heart attack

• Diabetes

• Strokes

• Seizures

• Reporting and recording of incidents as required by HSE(Health & Safety Executive)

• Contents of HSE approved first aid kit
