Beauty and Complementary Therapy
Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Spa Therapy
This course provides a full on from NVQ Level 2 in Beauty and VRQ Complementary Level 3 and provides a higher level of skills necessary for employment in specialist beauty salons and complementary therapy spas.
Course content
Promote additional services or products to clients
Monitor procedures to safety control work operations
Provide advanced body massage treatments
Monitor clients and the operation of sauna, steam and hydrotherapy treatments
Provide body wrapping and flotation treatments
Provide Indian head massage
Training in remedial massage and techniques
Provide hot stone treatments
Workplace massage / massage chairs
Provide work place massage

NVQ Beauty Therapy Level 2 or Level 3, Complementary Therapy Level 3 with massage
Course length
One year
Methods of study
Classroom and practical salon work based assessment.
Assessment
Units are internally and externally assessed. Continuous practical assessment is used to teach and develop vocational competence. On completion of each unit an externally set multiple choice theory paper must be undertaken.
Uniform, books & equipment required
Navy uniform & shoes at a cost of £90. Books and equipment will be required at extra cost TBC. Orders will be supplied.
Code of dress
- Correct uniform must be worn in the beauty salon.
- Facial & tongue piercing is not permitted.
- Hair must be neatly tied back off the face.
- Nail extensions & varnish must not be worn.
- Only a small pair of stud earrings & a wedding ring are allowed to be worn in the salon.
Moving on to another course or career
Employment in the prolific growth industry of spas, health hydros, cruise liners, leisure clubs and complementary therapy clinics.
