Hairdressing Level 2
Course Description
This course provides a great foundation for a career as a Hairdresser. If you are interested in fashion and grooming and you are considering a career in hairdressing, whether in a salon or as a mobile stylist, this course will equip you with the latest skills and know-how. You will learn how to advise and consult with clients, how to shampoo and condition hair professionally, how to create a range of styles from different cutting, colouring and styling techniques as well as product promotion. After successfully completing the course, you will be a qualified hairdresser. You will attend college on a day release basis whilst working in a salon.Progression after qualification
The qualification allows a candidate to progress to either the workplace as detailed above or onto specialised qualifications at the same, or higher level.Assessment
Assessment is carried out in the workplace and at college and the assessor will help you to identify any gaps through exercises and activities set between assessment visits.The Qualification Units
To achieve a full award, candidates must complete nine units in total, from eight mandatory units and one optional unit.Mandatory units
- Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety.
- Give clients a positive impression of yourself and your organisation.
- Advise and consult with clients.
- Cut hair using basic techniques.
- Shampoo and condition hair and scalp.
- Style and finish hair using basic techniques.
- Set and dress hair
- Change hair colour using basic techniques.
Optional Units
- Fulfil salon reception duties.
- Promote additional products or services to clients.
- Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work.
- Perm and neutralise hair
- Plait and twist hair
- Provide scalp massage services
- Attach hair to enhance style
