Wood Occupations - Site Carpentry Level 2
Course Description
The UK construction industry makes a vital contribution to the economy. However, there is a skills shortage in the industry and this work-based course ensures that staff meet national standards. Our qualification also helps employees gain their CSCS card which every operative will need to work on-site.Progression after qualification
The qualification allows a candidate to progress to either the workplace as detailed above or onto specialised qualifications at the same, or higher level.
Assessment
Assessment is carried out in the workplace and the assessor will help your employee to identify any gaps in their knowledge or skills and plan to close these gaps through exercises and activities set between assessment visits. It is important that your employee is given sufficient time to complete the activities so that they are able to learn and progress through the qualification.
The Qualification Units
Candidates must complete 6 units consisting of 3 mandatory units and 3 optional units.Mandatory Units
- Conform to General Workplace Safety
- Conform to Efficient Work Practices
- Move and Handle Resources
Optional Units
- Install First Fixing Components
- Install Second Fixing Components
- Erect Structural Carcassing Components
- Maintain Non-Structural Carpentry Work
- Set Up and Use Circular Saws
