Course details
The qualification
BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Photography.
Entry requirements
4 GCSEs at grade C or above; or GNVQ Intermediate or BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Distinction level in a relevant subject; or an equivalent qualification. You must also demonstrate during your interview a creative ability for art and design through a current portfolio of art work.
Aim of the course
The aim of the programme is to provide students with a broad introduction to a range of photographic processes using traditional and digital photographic methods and applications. The second year of the programme will provide opportunity for a degree of specialisation as students develop their portfolios with a view to making university applications.
Who is the course for?
The course is for anyone with a love for photgraphy and a desire to pursue a career in this area.

- Moving Image
- Film/Animation
- Information graphics
- Film Set Design
- Contextual studies (current and historical issues in art and design, professional practice)
Students also take AS and A2 examinations in Graphic Design as part of their programme of study.

A list of basic materials is sent to successful applicants prior to starting the course.
After the course
Progression on to Undergraduate courses such as Digital Photography, Film Design, Advertising, Animation, Multimedia and into careers including Graphic Design, Animation, Media Graphics and Web Design.
