BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Health and Social Care
This course is an introduction to working in the Health and Social Care Sector and will be suitable for those who would like to develop their skills and knowledge of caring for others.
Course content
This course has a variety of units that cover topics such as:
- Starting work in health and social care
- Working in health and social care
- Developing skills in health and social care
- Personal effectiveness
- Social responsibility at work
- Looking after children
- Images of people
- Health and the environment
Learners must also study for a Personal and Social Development qualification and Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT.
The qualification
BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Health & Social Care.
To join the course
Learners who have studied at Entry Level or who have some achievement at GCSE levels D-G or who want to study a work-related course. Satisfactory references will be needed and entry is by interview with the course leader.
Course length
This is a one year course that will be based in College each week.
Methods of study
There will be a variety of class-based lessons and activities assessment. Continuous assessment by coursework and an externally set project.
Are there any extra costs|?
College resources fee. You will need to provide stationery and folders for personal use and one or more large files for your completed course work. You will not be expected to purchase a text book for this course.
Moving on to another course or career
Progression is possible to a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
