Creative Media Production (Film & Television or Publishing) BTEC Extended Diploma - Level 3
This one-year course is a second year top up for successful learners who have passed the one-year Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production or for those wishing to join the College or the media course with some prior achievement in media or a related subject. In this second year course equivalent to 2 A-levels, students choose to specialise in one of two sector areas: Television and Film or Print-Based and onlinepublishing. Students will work on producing content for either Bladud or tempa tv and film productions.
Students will also undertake a Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in a related area and follow a programme of Functional Skills in Maths at Level 2.
Course length
One year.
Assessment
Continuous assessment of coursework, performance against agreed targets and participation and completion of products in response to set live briefs.
To join the course
The minimum entry requirements for this course is four GCSEs at C or above including English plus the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production at Merit level (with at least a Merit in all core units), AS/A2 Media or related subjects along with evidence of some practical experience. Only applicants who can demonstrate talent and commitment to their subject and who prove they are capable of collaborating and communicating effectively with other company members will be offered places. Candidates may be asked to respond to a set brief and bring this work with them to the interview.
Moving on to another course or career
Progression on to Undergraduate courses in Media Production, Print or Broadcast Journalism, Web Design, Photography, Digital Design or careers in a variety of industries that involve elements of TV and radio production, publishing and interactive media.
Costs
A company membership fee of £90 will be required as a contribution towards the cost of production resources.
