Music and Performing Arts
Music BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3
This two-year course is designed to give students the practical skills for a career in the music industry. The course is based around Bath College's own record company, BA1 Records.

Two years.

Continuous assessment of coursework.
To join the course
The minimum entry requirements for this course is four GCSEs at C or above including English Language or the BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Music at Distinction level (with at least a Merit in all core units), or equivalent, plus a successful interview and audition. Only applicants who can demonstrate talent and commitment to their subject and who prove they are capable of collaborating and communicating effectively with other company members will be offered places. Candidates may be asked to respond to a set brief and bring this work with them to the interview. You must be a competent singer and/or instrumentalist, with an interest in performing, recording and writing popular music.
Are there any extra costs?
A company membership fee of £90 will be required as a contribution towards the cost of production resources. If you are an instrumentalist, you will need to provide your own drum sticks, plectrums, strings, etc. Singers will need to supply their own microphones.
Moving on to another course or career
Students can progress on to the Level 4 HNC Music Performance & Artist Development course at City of Bath College or Undergraduate courses in Music elsewhere. Many students will go on to pursue a career in the music industry, as performers, producers in a range of other areas.
