Music Technology BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3
The aim of this course is to provide a background in all areas of music technology - music sequencing, sound recording, acoustics, composition and DJing. It is suitable for budding producers, composers, musicians, studio, broadcast and live sound engineers, who utilise music technology. The course is based around the College's own record company, BA1 Records.
Course length
Two years.
Assessment
Continuous assessment of coursework.
To join the course
The minimum entry requirements for this course is four GCSEs at C or above including English or the BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Music at Distinction level (with at least a Merit in all core units), or equivalent, plus a successful interview and audition. Only applicants who can demonstrate talent and commitment to their subject and who prove they are capable of collaborating and communicating effectively with other company members will be offered places. Candidates may be asked to respond to a set brief and bring this work with them to the interview. You must be a competent producer and/or instrumentalist, with an interest in performing, recording and sequencing music.
Moving on to another course or career
Students can progress on to the Level 4 FdA Music Production course at Bath College or Undergraduate courses in Music elsewhere. Many students will go on to pursue a career in the Music Industry, as performers or producers in a range of other areas.
