Music and Performing Arts
Tempa
technology, entertainment, media & performing arts
tempa is an entertainment production house that offers qualifications to those wishing to enter the entertainment industry as a performer, musician, theatre technician, media producer or filmmaker.
Within tempa there exists seven creative production companies, the details of which and the qualification awarded can be found in the following pages.
Teaching and learning at tempa is delivered through a vocational learning model based on professional projectbased engagements. This means we operate to produce entertainment industry products for our creative outlets whilst responding to commissions from external partners as well as producing our own shows and events.
These companies are managed by teams of industry professionals and staff. Content is produced through collaboration between our company members (students) consisting of performers, musicians and media producers, under the direction of a project director. The ethos at tempa is that we are a community of talents.
Because of the commitment and time put into rehearsals, skills development, productions and events, etc. there is an expectation that you will work outside of company hours catching up with written work. This is what true vocationally-based learning means; you do the job and you do the coursework.
tempa will widen your skill set around you as a media producer or performer and you will need to adopt an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to working on projects, as tempa performers learn media production skills and media producers develop presentation skills. These are major contributing factors to being successful when you leave and compete for jobs or places at universities.
Our expectations are very high and so should be those of young people who want to get on in this highly competitive world.
‘tempa is not just a place, it's a state of mind’.
