BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport
If you have a keen interest in sport, health and/or fitness this course will develop your understanding of many sports-related subjects. You will be able to apply what you learn in practice, thus improving your sporting knowledge.
Course content
Six units, which are:
• Body in sport
• The Sports Industry
• Preparation for sport
• Practical sport
• Planning and leading sports activities
• Health, safety and injury
To join the course
Either one GCSE at grade C or above plus 3 GCSEs or, four GCSEs at grade D or above in English, maths, science and/or PE.
Alternatively, an appropriate Level 1 qualification at Merit level or above, e.g. Introductory Diploma in Sport & Leisure.
A satisfactory reference is also required.
Course length
One year.
Methods of study
You will cover theoretical elements of the course in the classroom, with practical sessions in Bath Sports Centre.
Assessment
Practical and written assignments.
Are there any extra costs?
Resources fee. You will also need to have suitable sports clothing - this will include the purchase of at least one College polo shirt. These need to be worn both in practical sessions and classrooms.
Combines well with
There may be an opportunity to re-sit maths and/or English language GCSE.
Moving on to another course or career
Progress on to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport & Exercise Sciences or the National Certificate in Sport (Development, Coaching & Fitness).
