Uniformed Public Services
BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Uniformed Public Services
This course is designed for anyone interested in pursuing a career in the uniformed services. It will give you the opportunity to practically apply a range of skills and will develop your knowledge and understanding of the uniformed services, e.g. Police, Fire, Ambulance, Armed Forces, etc. The course will improve your personal fitness, self-confidence and self reliance. It will also develop leadership and teambuilding skills.
Course content
Six units including:
• Public service fitness
• Public service skills
• Land navigation
• Expedition skills
(including expeditions in wild country)
To join the course
Four GCSEs at D or above or an appropriate Level 1 qualification. A satisfactory reference is also required along with the successful completion of an assessment day.
Course length
One year.
Methods of study
You will cover theoretical elements of the course in the classroom with practical sessions in Bath Sports Centre. You will also go on a range of expeditions and visits outside of the College.

Are there any extra costs?
Resources fee. You will also need to purchase suitable polo shirts - this includes at least one College polo shirt in blue and
one in grey. These will be worn in practical sessions and classrooms.
Combines well with
There may be an opportunity to re-sit either Maths or English GCSE.
Moving on to another course or career
Progress on to the Extended Diploma in Uniformed Public Services, or into junior level positions in the uniformed services.
