Bath Spa University

Bath Spa University is a major "teaching-led" university placing the highest possible emphasis on teaching quality, and putting the student at the very centre of its' activities.

The University has a long and successful history of providing courses for the benefit of local students in partnership with further education colleges. City of Bath College is a key member of Bath Spa's Wessex Partnership. This partnership offers the students the best of both worlds: the resources and expertise of two high quality institutions.

There are around 7,000 students forming a close-knit academic community at Bath Spa University. The university is small enough to provide individual attention to students, but large enough to provide a good range of courses and first-rate facilities. In 2005 the University was designated a national Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning in subjects leading to careers in the creative industries.

A growing number of Bath Spa University foundation degree courses are offered at City of Bath College each year. These two-year foundation degrees have a particularly strong vocational focus and are designed with input from relevant industry partners so that graduates are well prepared to meet the needs of local employers. Students have the choice of going into employment at the end of their two-year course, or of progressing to the third year of an appropriate honours degree course.

The University of Bath

Founded in 1966, the University is unmistakably modern in both appearance and outlook and is rated in the top dozen universities in the UK by national newspaper guides. Its research is internationally-respected, and its students are in demand by employers because of the high quality of the teaching offered here. The University has had close connections with industry and the public and voluntary sectors. It has developed strong links with universities abroad.

The main University campus at Claverton Down is set in a 200 acre green field site with open views across the beautiful hills of the West Country, overlooking the centre of Bath, a World Heritage City, which is about a mile away. As a completely purpose-built development, the campus is more compact than most, with all major facilities easily accessible from a central parade.

A recent programme of major investment has seen the development of new undergraduate accommodation and new facilities for academic departments. The programme of development is ongoing.

It is a safe and friendly campus with a predominant sense of participation; social functions are usually sell-out affairs. Music, drama and the Arts are all flourishing and there is a justifiably proud record of achievement in sport with its first-class facilities.

University of the West of England

The University of the West of England (UWE) is passionate about providing higher education opportunities to the local community. In partnership with City of Bath College, UWE has developed the Business and Management Foundation Degree with a distinct vocational focus and strong links to local employers. You will benefit from this excellent opportunity to develop knowledge and skills that will prepare you for your future career. You may also have the opportunity to progress to an Honours Degree at UWE.

As a UWE student you will have access to the university's extensive resources and support services, including our multi-million pound sports centre, our extensive library, and one of the largest JobShops in the UK, providing a whole range of part-time employment in the local area. Students on some programmes may also be eligible to apply for our generous bursary scheme. In addition, you will become a member of the UWE Students' Union and will be able to join and help to run a huge range of clubs and societies.
