Loans for Full Time Students
Loans are available to help towards your tuition fees - up to £3,225 for 2009/10
This loan is not dependant on student's household income so all eligible students can expect to be allocated the full amount. Tuition fee loans are paid direct to the college/university.
Loans are also available for help with accommodation and living costs - up to £4,950 for 2009/10
Loans are dependent on a few factors including household income and payment is made direct to student's bank accounts in 3 instalments.
Repayment
You only start to repay the loan once you have left your course and are earning more than £15,000 a year.
Maintenance Grant & Special Support Grants
These non repayable Grants are available to help with your living costs. Eligible students receive one of the grants, up to £2,906 for 2009/10. These grants are also dependant on household income.
Studying Part Time Students
Low income Part Time Students may be eligible for non-repayable grants to help with tuition and textbooks etc.
The amount allocated is dependant on details including student's household income and course details. The maximum amount available is £1,470.

If you have applied for university then you will be able to apply for/ bursaries/ grants/ tuition fee loans by completing an application form online at www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance. Alternatively you can contact the Customer Support Office on 0845 300 5090 to obtain a paper form.
