Applying for Higher Education Courses
Step 1: Look at our range of HE courses
The HE prospectus is available from the Student Advice Centre and Careers Advice Centres. Alternatively you can search within this site on our database Course Finder.
Step 2: Choose your course
Browse the courses and choose one which is suitable to your needs and interests. When considering a course please bear these points in mind:
• Is the course content what I’m looking for?
• Do I have the right entry qualifications?
• Does it lead to a recognised qualification and how important is this to me?
• Can I attend at the times shown and for the length of time needed?
• How much work will I need to do outside class and can I fit it in?
• Can I afford it?
• Do I need to get some advice from the College first?
Step 3: Applying
• Part Time HE Courses
If you choose to study one of our Part Time HE courses then you should download our Part Time Application Form/ Learning Agreement. Complete this form and return it to the College. If your course requires an interview then you will be contacted directly by the course lecturer before you can enrol. If your course does not require an interview then once you have handed in your form and settled your course fees you are enrolled.
• Full Time courses, UCAS www.ucas.co.uk
All Higher Education applicants must first apply online through the UK’s central applications service, UCAS. This service offers a wide range of options for students as it holds information on over 50,000 courses run at over 300 colleges and universities throughout the UK.
You can get help in completing your application from our College’s Careers Department. One of our Careers Advisors will be able to guide you through the process.
• Business and Computing Full Time HE Courses
If you wish to study Business, Computing or Construction at HE level then you can apply via UCAS or by completing a Full Time Application form. Once complete please return to Admissions, City of Bath College, Avon Street, Bath, BA1 1UP. Upon receipt of your application form, our Admissions team will then arrange an interview for you with the course lecturer.
The City of Bath College codes are:
UCAS institution name: CPSO
UCAS institution code: B21
• Heritage Management, Fashion and Textiles, Early Years, Digital Design or Music Production Full Time HE Courses
If you wish to study Heritage Management, Fashion and Textiles, Early Years, Digital Design or Music Production at HE level then you can apply to Bath Spa University via UCAS.
• Sport Full Time HE Courses
If you wish to study Sport at HE level then you can apply to University of Bath via UCAS.
When to apply
You should apply early on; between 9-12 months before the start of the academic year you wish to join. Refer to the UCAS website to be aware of deadlines, as these must be met in order to increase your chances of securing a place on your desired course.
Any applications received by UCAS after the deadlines will be held for clearing. Clearing offers a second oppurtunity for applicants who did not initially secure an offer of a course, however you would only be considered for courses that still have places available.
